8/21/2020: I really anticipated this shelf and just received it. Feeling very salty at the moment, I'll try to break down everything as much as possible.Pros: The color of the item is really nice and just as I had hoped it would be. It appears to be true to size, when assembled.Cons : First, I received the package two days late. Second, the packaging was badly damaged and had two large holes on the underside of the box, one about 5"x6" and the other about 6.5"x7". The latter and larger hole was re-taped with clear tape so I assume it was done by the manufacturer, vendor or at the warehouse. The smaller hole was not taped over and I assume happened during shipping. Not a logistics expert, the packaging on the inside of the box I think would've been sufficient, but it wasn't which brings me to my next point. Third, the shelf was pretty damaged and isn't serviceable. Both side panels have holes in them that correlate with the damage on the box. The pieces on the side panels that hold up the center shelves were also broken off and unserviceable. The damage to the the shelve left several broken pieces throughout the box. The back panel has a large scratch while there's damage and bending that also correlates with the damage on the box and side panels. The box with all of the screws and stuff seemed fine, but I didn't bother checking if all the pieces were there given I can't assemble the shelf in the first place. Lastly, priced "ok" I guess, but should be cheaper given the quality of material used. Side and back panels are approximately 1/8" particle particle board and would explain why the holes through the box would easily extend through the damaged pieces.Like I said, I'm salty! I've generally had great luck when ordering anything from Amazon, and I never needed to return an item or complain. So, I'm trying to figure out this process and how to contact the vendor in order to receive a replacement. Returning the item would be a nuisance and a burden, and I hope that will not be the case. I do give it two stars based on the really nice color and ok price if the item were to be received fully intact and serviceable. More to follow once I figure out and complete the replacement process, and after dealing with Amazon/Vendor.8/21/2020 Update: Unable to reach the vendor by the contact information provided on Amazon, and I was unable to locate another contact number directly from the vendor website. I filled out the vendor's online form and I am waiting to hear back from them...9/2/2020 Update: Vendor reached out to me after several days and, after several back and forth emails with Jeff over the course of a week, he coordinated and sent me another complete shelf without difficulty. He was always professional so I have no complaints with how the vendor responded to my inquiry. Regarding the replacement shelf; this box was also received damaged, with a slit in and across the entire box, which I attribute to happening while en-route. However, there was no major damage to the item when it was unpacked other than minor scratches. It was also quite dusty and dirty with most pieces covered but easily wiped clean. It was quite easy to put together as it took less than thirty minutes to unpack, assemble and throw the box out. Product is decent. It definitely looks pretty nice minus the few scratches, but it does seem somewhat cheaply made. Even if the item came assembled, I don't think it's worth the price. I think $50-60 max would be appropriate. Overall, I'm happy with it and give it 3.5 stars.Merely adequate. Arrived damaged, but I put that more on Fedex than I do the seller, I've never had anything delivered by Fedex that didn't somehow get ruined. Rather than bother with sending it back, I went ahead and put it together. You'll need about an hour if you use a manual Phillips' head screwdriver, half that if you use a drill, but by hand is really easy. Directions were clear up to the last part of putting on the top, it was backwards, but easy to figure out what to do. That being said:All hardware (and extras!) were included, boxed separately, and well-labeled. Actual metal screws to hold it together. It's a shame the "wood" itself is so cheap. The back is fancy cardboard, and this is where the damage was really visible, big dent punched into it. Books hide it, but if I was a stickler it would be unacceptable. The top corner where the box had been crushed was split, and for a minute I thought it wouldn't stay together, but then the way its assembled it manages to squeeze the cracked part together. Again, if I was very picky, it would be unacceptable.Various scuffs, scratches, and dings on the wood veneer, but again not anything that can't be remedied with some almond furniture polish. The color isn't really espresso so much as it is a very deep dark cherry. Kind of weird, actually. I had bought it to kind of match a bookcase I already have that is espresso. Big difference in color, but since they're not right next to each other it's fine. The poor coloring of the veneer is very visible in the bottom back corners, but books are in there so no one is going to notice.Very small, not what I pictured, but I just didn't project the dimensions into reality. It's not quite 5ft tall. You can get about 8-10 regular sized hardbacks onto the shelves.STRONG chemical odor. Normally things like this don't bother me, but it gave me a headache and I had to open windows to air out my apartment. GROSS. Still chemichally after a couple of days. This is about as bad as the damage, and the main reason I would not recommend anyone buy it. You can get something for about the same quality or better at Target or Cost Plus, so go that route.I couldn't really recommend it to anyone else.No problems with the seller at all. There is an overwhelming chemical smell upon opening the box and lasts for several hours. So, if you're sensitive to smells, perhaps it would be wiser to open the box outside, in an open and airy location and let it air out for a while. The shelf had a few bubbles in a couple of places on the exterior sides but not a big deal enough to return. I love the dark color even though it was uneven in some places, especially near the edges. Again, not a big deal and a directed sharpie will hide it. However, the bottom shelf was a little off-center because the backing was just wide enough to keep the side from coming together correctly. I was still able to engage the bottom left front and both camlocks on the right side but that gap is obvious and I didn't have anything to shave it with in order to make the backing flush. As it is pre-fab and therefore, not always perfect. All in all, the unit will do its job which is to provide a foot of privacy in my work space. I just have fill the bottom shelf to hide that gap.Love this line. Easy to assemble, sturdy and I love how it looks. I have 2 pieces from this line up and they match and look handsome. This had a super strong odor (probably the dye or glue) but it's taken months for the smell to dissipate, aside from that it's okay but not great.Basquets are not on par with this very nice shelf/bookcase. Not very usable.Love these units. Usexthem for tge kids games, books, coloring books etc..in my recroom. Nice looking and practical.I love winsome wood and now have 4 items by winsome and I plan on buying more
